Events
I’ve planned
events for as few as ten and as many as 10,000, including an
intimate and luxurious affair for a board of directors, and
an over-the-top sales and marketing convention in New
Orleans. I’ve also organized some of the following events:
-
trade shows
-
award
banquets
-
cocktail
parties
-
family-friendly activities
-
large-scale
holiday parties
-
employee
appreciation events
-
internationally attended user conferences and associated
events
-
charity
events including music festivals, cook-offs, golf
tournaments and silent auctions
-
product
launches
-
press
conferences
-
book
signings
What I’ve Learned:
One of my favorite experiences as marketing director for the
University of North Texas Athletics Department was
officially organizing, re-introducing and encouraging
tailgating prior to home football games. From coordinating
marketing materials, “explaining” what tailgating was and
what it entailed, to arranging all the tents, food and
entertainment in what we dubbed as the Mean Green Village.
It was always a challenge, but so gratifying to see on my
alma mater’s (and then employer’s) campus a sea of people
wearing green, grilling, catching up with old friends and
gearing up for the game. It wasn’t glamorous, and it was
hard work, but to this day, I’m proud of what I (along with
many, many others) was able to give to the community. |
